After a complete overhaul of the professional tour, Rounds 1 and 2 of the newly revamped Pro Watercraft Tour have now come to an end. The event took place in Ventura, California over the past weekend, and despite the streamlining of the show, the excitement remained as intense as ever.
Team Kawasaki emerged as the big winners, with their lone factory squad still standing strong. Teammates Chris MacClugage, Dustin Motzouris, and Steven Dauliach dominated both the Pro Ski and Pro 1200 Runabout categories in Round 1, with the trio taking the top three spots in Pro Ski, and MacClugage and Motzouris finishing first and second in Runabout. In Round 2, Motzouris took the lead in Pro Ski, followed by MacClugage and Dauliach, while in Runabout, MacClugage and Motzouris once again secured the top two spots. The only riders to break the Kawasaki domination of the top positions were both on Yamahas, with Chris Lawrence and Dustin Farthing taking third place in Runabout for Rounds 1 and 2, respectively. These victories have given Team Kawasaki an unprecedented lead as they head into Rounds 3 and 4. The debut of Pro Freeride also created a lot of buzz as riders took to the surf, with Eric Malone continuing to edge out his rival Alessander Lenzi for the Ski crown, while Jimmy Visser remained unbeatable in Runabout. The tour will continue with Rounds 3 and 4, scheduled for this upcoming weekend in Oceanside, California.
