Report: Lake Bistineau near Ringgold is located about 25 miles southeast of Shreveport Louisiana, an impoundment of 15,5000 acres, 1.15 miles wide by about 14 miles long. It is a 50% wooded lake [with cypress trees- not the classic Louisiana moss covered trees]. The lake is semi open , has wide marked channels, and quite a bit of open areas that could be considered open lakes. In some parts of the lake, mostly around Camp Joy area [Bossier Slough] there have been small platforms built into the trees that people use as sort of a base when groups use the lake that are quite neat. The water is clear - at least as clear as water gets in Louisiana. It is very popular for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, house boating, and last but not least fishing. There are many accesses\boat launches on the lake most of all require a nominal fee of about $2. There are only two places for fuel. The most popular place, the one I use, is Camp Joy. As described in the following : Taylortown Camp Joy Marina Paved Fee 10.5 miles east of Taylortown. Excellent place. At Taylortown on US 71 about 5 miles south of Bossier City, turn left [east] on La. 527, go 9 miles to "Fairview Point Rd.” turn right [south] 100 yards to first road to left, "Camp Joy Rd.” turn left go about 1.5 miles to launch. Camps, houseboat slips, dock side electricity, upstairs restaurant, downstairs bar, nice patio deck, nice fuel dock, launch fee $2. Ph. 318-987-2390. As I have traveled extensively with my jet ski in Louisiana and elsewhere Lake Bistineau is one of the finest and best places to ride and enjoy ones self at. There are practically no other places like this lake around anywhere. Shreveport is a large town with all accommodations with lots of places to go, things to do including four casino river boats making it even more worthy to visit this area. Thank you to Gerald Massey for his informed report

Report: Brookville is a good size lake with so ups and downs. About half the lake is no wake, but the good half is all wide open. The patrols haven't shown to be an annoyance so that is a plus. During the week is the best time to go, weekends are nuts. Watch out for boaters on weekends, they tend to be very un-skilled and rude. Don't even go near this lake on holidays, unless you want to get bounced apart. Thanks Andy. Report: Indiana - Lake Monroe. A state park with a decent amount of space and plenty of big/other boats to make the water choppy. 2 main bodies of water, 1 of which has a rather constant chop (2-4 feet) from about 10AM though dusk on warm days around the middle. Lots of other things in the park-fishing, camping (Campgrounds and off the boat), hiking, etc. Beware the cold winds in the early season. Launch fees are cheap @ $20/yr. Recommend the $18 park pass to save the $2/day gate fees. Keep it safe and sober! Thanks CJ Stringer Report: In Salomony, Indiana, there is lake that is a State Park lake and is very clean. The lake have a nice place to just swim, kind of like a mininature beach. The lake is never crowded. We just got our jetskis in 1999 and thats the only place in Indiana we go. Sometimes the water is choppy and other times it's not. The drop fee is free and free is good. Salomony is just a great lake and water is great. -Thanks Jeff P. Report : I live about 25 miles away from Geist Reservoir and love it. I went there a lot in the summer of '99 and it was virtually clear of other boats because of abnormally low water levels. Jet skis are just about they only thing that can go in there (as of late winter). It was not choppy though which may come as a dissapointment to many but I like the clearness personally. I could turn around in my own wake and have plenty of stunt ready water. Geist is a good place, but the drop fee will kill you at $25.00 a day on weekends. It's usually calm and race ready. The best place to ride in Illinois is the Chain O' Lakes. Some lakes are flat and smooth and the river is very CHOPPY on weekends. Illinois - Northern Jeff Kuta says one of the best places to ride in Northern Illinois is on Lake Michigan. The waves are simply awesome, even on a relatively calm day. (They don't call it the windy city for nothing!) Located at Lake Shore Drive and Wilson Ave., the Chicago Park District run launching area is the mecca for PWC riders from all over Chicagoland. A day pass costs $15 or you can purchase a season permit for $110. Tom suggests aside from Lake Michigan (my personal favorite), Chain-O-Lakes (another favorite), there is a small river called the Rock River which cuts through Rockford (second largest city in IL). This river is great for the locals and offers a few places to eat and one gas fill up. Launching is free in about 6 different locations on the river. The best part about this river is, you can go for about 45 miles in spring time (one direction) on a river that has some 270 degree bends (only 30 ft wide in the tight areas) and this makes for a very thrilling ride. It is very quiet in the extreme north-west end of the river (better bring extra gas!). The most thrilling jetski ride I ever had was to ride in a club with 23 other jetskiers in a single file line up this long snaky river. Lake Allatoona - Is located off of 75 in Acworth Ga. Coming from TN take I - 75 South to Red Top Mountain Rd Exit. Coming from Atlanta take I - 75 North to Red Top Mountan Rd Exit in Acworth. Coming from 285 eaither way take I-75 North to Red Top Mountain Road Exit. Allatoona is about a 3rd of the size of Lake Lanier and a lot less crowded, the boat ramps are about the same price as everywhere else, plenty of places to put in, lots of wild life and camping and that good southern cooking :-) Boat Rentals and Gas on the Lake... (Gas is expensive on the lake so BYOG (Bring Your Own Gas). Thanks Tony Peterson Another Lake Allatoona Review- There is a small penninsula near the Little River Marina that they call "jetski island." On a typical weekend, you will find the shores covered with jetskiers with the latest and greatest toys. The area is away from the main channel so it is fairly predictable. I have been there a few times when they have had buoys set up for racing. The water is great and if you stick around long enough, you will learn something. Driving: The area is by the Little River public access ramps off of Bells Ferry road. You can also get there by taking the gravel path right before the public ramp if heading north on BellsFerry. Thank you Scott Trott Lake Lanier... Although there are many deaths on Lanier each year due to boating accidents the lake to me is safe and very fun to ride on. The lake has a wide variety of boats that make the water unpredictible. There are Cruisers that put out 8ft waves to launch off off then theres 3 or 4 houseboats riding together that make for some whoops and timing jumps. HEHE this lake is crowded but it has all anyone could ask for on a sunny day. Try it out sometime it's located just northeast of Atlanta. Eric David's family loves to ride Lake Hartwell. The lake forms part of the border between Georgia and South Carolina. During the week, the lake is nearly deserted. Even on weekends, it is not as crowded as many smaller lakes. People in this area are definitely "jet ski" friendly. Check it out! Clarks Hill Lake is the best place to ride in Georgia. Located 12 miles above Augusta, Georgia on the border of South Carolina. The folks over at the Department of Natural Resources are very fair and promote PWC safety. Lots of room to ski and tube. Several islands over 20 campgrounds, 50 boatramps, and several places to get gas. Enjoy and keep our lake clean!!! Ryan of Georgia 12/27/2022 0 Comments Jet Ski Ride Area FloridaFlorida Panama City Florida: St. Andrews Pass (Panama City Florida where the St. Andrews Bay lets out into the Gulf) to the Shell Island side has an extremely good break but be ready for some rocks in close so riders must have complete control... Sebastain Inlet of course the inlet at Sebastain State Park is totally wilder either the north or south sides. (I would recommend the south for more big breaks but sharks are a problem) but just a few miles up the coast is a really good reef break (Spanish house) there will be a few cars parked of the side of a1a and a lot of surfers in the water,,, Don't get to high since this awesome break is from a very shallow reef which will catch the ass end of your ski and leave you stranded in a rough wall of water. Florida-Central Tims favorite is Ponce de Leon Inlet on the east coast of central Florida. It sits just below Daytona Beach and north of New Smyrna. Although he lives in Orlando and has a choice of over 100 lakes within a 50 mile radius of his house, he prefers to drive the hour and a half to Ponce. It's always worth it! he'll take a lousy 3' wave over a flat lake any day! The great thing about it is that it costs nothing to park or launch. FREE, baabeee! You can't beat that. There's a concrete ramp and a paved parking lot. However, the lot only has about 40 slots so get here early on a warm day. Another great thing is that if you want to get your extra gear (or even that third, fourth or fifth passenger) to the beach, you can drive into the County's Lighthouse Park ($2.00 per per person in vehicle) and be able to park within 50 yards of the beach, provided it's not a busy day. However, no trailers are allowed in the park on weekends or holidays because of the crowds and limited space. Most people just carry their stuff to the beach via their PWC and leave their vehicles in the public lot near the ramp. On a good day, when there's an east or southeast wind and the tide is rolling out, you'll have 6-8' waves along the south jetty. In the center of the channel, I've seen rolling swells reach 10'. If the winds are not in your favor, you'll still get 3-5' waves which are nothing to be ashamed of. If a hurricane just happens to run up the coast as Floyd did a while back, you can count on huge swells in the deeper water and rocking action along the south jetty! Just be careful of floating debris at those times. There are restrictions on where you can ride. If caught in the "no-no" zones, be prepared for a fine. New Smyrna mandates that all PWC stay 1500' from shore to protect the swimmers and surfers. So, it's not worth traveling south of the south jetty. Going north of the north jetty, you need to stay 300' from shore. No beaching until you reach Ormond Beach. As long as you stay in the Inlet, you can beach anywhere you like on the north or south sides. But (and that's a BIG BUT), there are pending ordinances to restrict these areas even further (like every other place in the country). Be sure to check with Volusia County Sheriff's Department for current details. Florida-Southwestern Report: Sarasota County, Venice, FL. Take I-75 to exit 35, not 35A, just exit 35, which is Jacaranda road. Turn right off the exit, go down 2 traffic lights to Venice Ave., and turn right. Take that all the way down onto the island to the end of Venice ave. turn right at the stop sign. Turn left on the next stop sign. You will come up to Higel park boat launch on the right. From there you can go out to the gulf of Mexico by goin left on your pwc, or go straight into Roberts bay (sports rec area). When you go to the gulf..... you'll go through the jetti. You can beach off South Jetti, but not North Jetti. Waves are big, I 've seen them about 8' rollers. Roberts Bay is an "excellent" place to freestyle jetski, but no big waves in there. Everything is free, launching and parking. Camping is on U.S 41 about 5-6 miles north of Venice ave. It's called Oscar Shears state park. It costs about $15 per night. Thanks Rival671@aol.com Places to launch:
Desoto County Sunny Breeze Golf Course (AKA: Liverpool) Just South of Fort Ogden, turn at the entrance to Sunny Breeze Golf Course and follow road all the way to the end. (There are some curves and turns, just stay on the "main" road). You will see the boat ramp and picnic pavilion at the end. Charlotte County Harbor Heights Park. From I-75 get off at exit 30 and head towards Harbor Heights. Watch for "park and boat ramp sign". Nice picnic area with tables and pavilions. There are other places to launch but these two seem to be the best and easiest to find. Your best bet is to stock up on gas and also pack a lunch. There is a restaurant with gas north of the boat ramp at Sunny Breeze Golf Course called "Nav-a-Gators". Click here for map of Charlotte County. 12/27/2022 0 Comments Jet Ski Ride Area ArkansasArkansas
Report: Check out Greer'sFerry Lake in Arkansas. I go there alot, but I have a place to stay and to launch so I am not really familiar with the fees. However, I know that they are very inexpensive. PWC's are always welcome there. This is one of the cleanest most beautiful lakes I have ever been to. It covers over 40,000 acres and has over 340 miles of shoreline. There are over 1200 public and private campsites. The water is so clear, you can see about 15 to 20 feet down into the water. You don't know what you will be missing if you do not check it out.
