The FUN RUN will start Sunday, at 9 a.m., taking off from the Long Beach launch ramp (Check-in by 7 a.m.). Everyone will be required to stay with the group as several vessels will lead the way to Avalon. Other vessels will bring up the rear, including a Sea\\Tow vessel. Since this is a fun run we plan to average about 25-30 miles an hour in order for everyone to be able to keep up.
Once in Avalon, all participants will be required first to "top off" at the "fuel barge" and get checked-in with officials. After that, participants can proceed to the nearby beach (across from the barge) where music, refreshments and a BBQ will take place. Finishing the lunch break, participants can slowly ride their PWCs (5 m.p.h.) to the Harbor at Avalon (about 1/2 mile South). Participants can dock their PWCs at the "dingy docks." There will be a two-hour "downtime" so people can visit the quaint but very exciting town of Avalon, and check out all the shops and tourist attractions. At 3 p.m., all FUN RUN Participants must return to the "fuel barge" where riders will be checked-out, before leaving, on their way back to Long Beach. Again, vessels and officials will lead the way back to Long Beach. There will be certain requirements of each participant which will be listed on the entry form (soon to be posted on http://www.bpmotorsports.net ). Among those will be a cell telephone and/or radio, a GPS system, a first aid kit and miscellaneous repair tool kits. Everyone must be fully dressed with a full wet suit and life vest. Goggles, helmet, gloves, boots, etc., are highly recommended but optional. A long 12-foot tow rope with spring-loaded hooks on both ends is a must. A one-day Sea\\Tow membership for extra security. Also before the start of the FUN RUN IN THE SUN I, each participant will need to deposit, with an official at the Launch Ramp, a driver's license and/or credit card. This is to ensure that all participants check back with officials upon their return to Long Beach. For more details, contact BP MotorSports. Entry per person for the FUN RUN IN THE SUN I is $100.00, which includes an event T-shirt and the BBQ lunch. Riders riding two to a PWC (must be a three- or four-seater) will pay $175.00. Special rates for Families of four or more are available. No stand-up Skis. Sorry! Sport PWCs must be ridden by only one person and must have fuel capacity of at least 35 miles. Since this is an event which requires quite a few logistics all entries will be required to be in NO LATER THAN, TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2002. Entries can be downloaded from the webpage and faxed (if paying by credit card) or mailed with check or money order. No post entries will be accepted, as arrangements for food and t-shirts will have been already made. www.bpmotorsports.net
