JetSki Parts The Kawasaki JET SKI® STX®-15F watercraft is the ultimate expression of power, performance and leading-edge technology in the personal watercraft world, and the reason is simple: the brand responsible for building some of the most powerful motorcycles on earth is the same brand that introduced the JET SKI name to the world more than 30 years ago. A high-performance engine from the legendary Kawasaki Ninja® motorcycle line provided the starting point for this dominant JET SKI model. While the bore is the same as that of the smaller JET SKI STX-12F, the stroke is 13.8mm longer, increasing displacement to 1,498cc. This long stroke design delivers a flat torque curve for a smooth spread of power across the entire rpm range. Dual overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, fuel injection and electronic engine control, which harmonizes the fuel and ignition systems, provide maximum performance and reliability. Plus, the fuel injection system utilizes four injectors and a large 60mm throttle body to deliver a quick response. Even with such high-performance attributes, the STX-15F has earned a Three-Star Ultra-Low Emissions rating, meeting the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) strictest standards, as well as the California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards for 2008. The four-stroke engine is rubber-mounted in the hull and includes a water-jacketed, performance-tuned exhaust system, dual mufflers and large-capacity airbox. The STX-15F utilizes a direct drive axial-flow jet pump connected to an oval-edge, stainless steel, three-blade impeller and an 82mm jet pump nozzle for powerful acceleration. Equally important, the STX-15F engine produces its peak power at a relatively low rpm while matching the impeller’s peak efficiency rpm, thus eliminating the need for a complicated gear reduction unit. The result is improved durability, reduced vibration and noise, and improved fuel economy. The STX-15F is also equipped with Kawasaki Smart Steering®(KSS® ). KSS features a steering sensor that is electronically linked to an on-board microprocessor. If the handlebar is fully turned in either direction and the engine rpm drops from a designated rpm, such as when the throttle is released at speed, the microprocessor activates the KSS, which raises engine rpm to provide enough thrust to initiate the desired turn. Assisting with low-speed maneuvering is a reverse bucket that is shaped to deliver optimum thrust for more precise direction control when backing, and the bucket is injection molded to eliminate corrosion. he STX-15F also features Kawasaki’s innovative electronic Smart Learning Operation (SLO). Accessible directly on the instrument panel, SLO can be programmed to place a limit on maximum engine speed so novice riders can experience riding at a reduced speed while they master proper riding techniques. Aggressive turning and high-speed stability are key performance attributes of the STX-15F. Injection-molded sponsons designed specifically for the STX-15F feature a special “lip” for increased cornering grip and high-speed stability. The hull also features a molded-in Kawasaki Splash Deflector (KSD) to help minimize spray on the rider. With its muscular, aggressive look, the STX-15F is lighter and more compact than the competition, yet Kawasaki engineers have created a spacious riding position that makes aggressive performance riding easier and suits a wider range of riders. The stylish hatch cover is constructed from ABS plastic, adding to the fresh, high-quality styling of the STX-15F, and a hydraulic damper holds the hatch cover open, allowing easy access until the rider closes it. The mirrors are also made of ABS plastic and are mounted directly to the deck, adding to the sleek lines The open rear deck of the STX-15F features abundant space for getting into water skis or a wakeboard, and reboarding in deep water is simplified with the automatically retracting boarding step located at the rear of the hull. The rear deck can also accommodate a cooler or other items needed for a day on the water. Other features include a water-resistant storage space, an easily accessible glove box and additional storage space located under the seat.
For extended rides, fuel capacity is a generous 16.4 gallons. Other features include a LCD instrument panel so the rider can monitor the fuel level, speed, engine rpm, trip distance and time. Warning lamps alert the rider to low fuel level or high engine temperature, and a magnetic keyed ignition switch helps deter unauthorized operation. The exhilaration of banking into a turn, leaning the body into a cool breeze and gently pulling the trigger-type throttle to accelerate over the open water is a special experience that only comes when riding a Kawasaki The high-performance JET SKI 800 SX-R is powered by a twin-cylinder, 782cc two stroke engine and produces the most horsepower available in a production stand-up JET SKI watercraft. It is fed by a pair of 40mm Mikuni carburetors and features a waterproof and maintenance-free Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) system with digital advance. Aggressive exhaust port timing and a large-diameter exhaust pipe help provide superior top-end power while a water-jacket surrounding the exhaust pipe helps to reduce underhood temperatures and suppress noise. Rather than add the additional weight of an oil injection system, the 800 SX-R engine runs on a pre-mixed fuel/oil mixture. This allows serious enthusiasts the ability to fine-tune their mixtures for various conditions. The 800 SX-R also comes equipped with a fresh water flush fitting that is adaptable to a standard garden hose and helps operators rinse out the motor’s cooling lines. Plus, it allows the hood to remain on the craft for less noise while flushing. The hull of the 800 SX-R is designed for exceptional stability yet does not sacrifice turning prowess. This increased stability not only enhances rough-water handling for racers, it also makes it easier for beginners to master stand-up riding more quickly. The hull design also provides more footwell area to give the rider more room to maneuver, vary foot placement and shift body weight. The handlepole placement provides optimum control and comfort. Soft padding covers the tray area for improved rider comfort as well. The hull of the 800 SX-R is made out of fiberglass reinforced plastic. This helps to make the hull as light as possible while retaining maximum strength. Extra fiberglass has also been placed in key areas to further improve hull durability and sponsons are placed just under the hull/top deck bond line to enhance turning. The hull's compact size also simplifies transport and storage. The top deck of the 800 SX-R is also made of fiberglass reinforced plastic so that it is tough and damage-resistant. Other features include integrated foam flotation that is built into the deck and handlepole to make the 800 SX-R virtually unsinkable. Color Kawasaki Lime Green By utilizing feedback from Kawasaki factory racers, Kawasaki engineers have purposely designed the JET SKI® Ultra® 150 to be the highest-performing model in its personal watercraft line. And as the editors of one magazine noted, it is, indeed “a pintsized rocket ship, able to reach the upper echelons of the radar scale and slice a buoy to ribbons with surgeon-like expertise.” The Ultra 150’s incredible power comes from a 1,176cc three-cylinder, twostroke engine. The intake manifold is angled back 45 degrees to create a downdraft effect for the trio of high-flow, constant velocity-type carburetors. A variable speed oil pump reduces oil consumption and exhaust smoke. The result is more power and better efficiency under a variety of operating conditions. Each of the three aluminum cylinders has its own water jacket to help ensure cooling capacity matches the high power output. Similar to other models in the JET SKI lineup, the cylinders utilize lightweight, wear-resistant Nikasil composite plating for maximum heat dissipation and counter balancers at both ends of the crankshaft to eliminate vibration. The engine is also rubber-mounted in the hull for a comfortable, vibration-free ride with reduced structural noise. The engine is fed by triple 40mm constant-velocity carburetors that provide smooth throttle response and excellent fuel economy. The carburetors are linked to the digital Direct Current Capacitor Discharge Ignition (DC-CDI) system by the Kawasaki Throttle Responsive Ignition Control (K-TRIC) throttle-position sensor. The system works by setting the independent timing maps for each cylinder based on engine speed and throttle opening for quick throttle response and acceleration. For maximum engine performance, the Ultra 150 uses a water-jacketed dry exhaust system that separates cooling water from the expansion chamber, allowing exhaust gases to flow completely dry and free from power-robbing water vapor. This water insulation also suppresses engine noise and lowers the temperature of the aluminum exhaust components for reduced engine compartment temperatures. The Ultra 150 also features the Kawasaki Smart Steering® system (KSS®). The Kawasaki Smart Steering system features a steering sensor that is electronically linked to an on-board microprocessor. If the handlebar is fully turned in either direction and the engine rpm drops from a designated rpm, such as when the throttle is released at speed, the microprocessor activates the KSS, which raises engine rpm to provide enough thrust to initiate the desired turn. Smart Steering can assist riders in learning to negotiate turns and to maneuver, making turning easier and smoother. Experienced riders may not feel the system functioning since they realize throttle application is required during turning. To transmit the Ultra 150's incredible power to the water, a mixed-flow jet pump is placed low in the hull to provide maximum “hook-up” and acceleration. This highly efficient design provides for the highest possible water flow while keeping physical dimensions and weight to a minimum. The handling and stability of the Ultra 150's hull perfectly match the highperformance engine. Using technology from the Kawasaki JET SKI® Racing team, it features bulkhead-type construction for high rigidity and reduced weight. The deep-V design provides precise handling characteristics and slices cleanly through choppy water while the water intake on the bottom of the hull is shaped to enhance ride quality. The molded-in Kawasaki Splash Deflector (KSD) minimizes spray that might reach the operator. To further enhance the Ultra 150's handling, an electric variable trim adjustment switch on the left handlebar gives the operator more precise control over the hull's attitude in the water. The highest position trims the hull to a neutral position for reduced drag at high speed. The lowest position trims the nozzle downward 10 degrees, allowing the deep-V hull to slice more deeply through the water for tighter turning. Convenient features add to the appeal of the Ultra 150. The top deck allows easy access to the fuel and oil tank fill spouts located under the front hatch cover. A generous 15.3-gallon fuel tank permits extended riding, while the variable-rate Superlube oil injection system with a 1.2-gallon oil tank supplies the right amount of oil to the engine at all times, eliminating the need for pre-mixing gas and oil. A multi-function digital instrument panel includes fuel level, oil level, speedometer, tachometer, hour meter, trip meter, trim gauge and important warning lamps. An easily accessible glove box permits the operator to keep keys or a wallet handy while additional storage in the bow compartment holds larger items.
